Downtown Village Parking Permit Program
About the Program
The Downtown Village Parking Permit Program was established to improve management of the supply of municipal parking downtown and to provide businesses and employees with affordable parking. Permit holders are exempted from parking meter fees and two- or four-hour parking time limits, thus eliminating the need feed parking meters or move vehicles when parked in designated permit parking areas.
Obtaining a Permit
Downtown Village Parking Permits cost between $40 and $60 and are valid for one quarter (three months). Essentially, there are two permit programs, each with their own permits and policies:
- The La Mesa Boulevard Lot Program, covering only the La Mesa Boulevard lot.
- The East-End Program covering the three municipal lots east of Spring Street (Allison Ave., Lemon Ave., and Palm Ave.) and certain on-street areas on Allison Avenue and Lemon Avenue.
Regardless of location or permit type, Permits need to be renewed on a quarterly basis and the renewal period for existing Downtown Village Parking Permits generally occurs during the weeks preceding the start of a new calendar-year quarter. Those interested in renewing an existing permit, or purchasing a new permit, can visit the Downtown Village Permit Renewal page for more information. For more details on the Downtown Village Permit Program, permit pricing, and maps of designated parking areas, please review the policies and guidelines for the La Mesa Boulevard lot program and/or the guidelines for the East-end program.
