Every chair is full at the La Mesa Library and it stays that way most of the time. Comfortable chairs line the walls of the building, and are full of customers reading, doing homework, or just relaxing with their friends. The La Mesa library moved to a new facility in 2008 and has seen over 600,000 customers set foot in their 10,000-square-foot space since opening day.
The La Mesa library circulates over 60,000 titles each month, making them one of the top circulating branches in the San Diego County Library system. The Friends of the La Mesa Library operate a bookstore in the branch and sell donated books and other items, giving the proceeds right back to the library. The bookstore is open every day, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
