Customer Service Training

Service First
More than 100 city employees received their Superior Service Certificate for completing a series of three customer service training classes offered in conjunction with Cuyamaca College’s Professional Development Academy. “Service First” was selected as the name of the city’s new training program to stress its importance to the organization.

Professional Development

The city contracted with Cuyamaca College to customize the Professional Development Academy’s Superior Service series of three classes to meet the needs of local government. The customer appreciation, mastering communication, and dealing with difficult people classes explore key attitudes, techniques, and communication skills employees need to provide the very best service to customers. The three-hour classes were held at the city’s fire station 12 training room to make it convenient for employees.

About 150 additional employees will participate in a customized one-day customer service class also developed by the Professional Development Academy for the City of La Mesa. This customized class incorporates the most pertinent information from the three half-day classes in the Academy’s Superior Service series into one seven-hour session.

The Bottom Line
The bottom line is to invest in employees and give them the training, the tools, and the authority they need to get their job done.
