Downtown Village Parking Permit Program

About the Program

The Downtown Village Parking Permit Program was established to improve management of the supply of municipal parking downtown and to provide businesses and employees with affordable parking. Permit holders are exempted from parking meter fees and two- or four-hour parking time limits, thus eliminating the need feed parking meters or move vehicles when parked in designated permit parking areas.

Purchasing a Permit

On July 1, 2021 the City of La Mesa introduced a new, web-based system for the purchase of parking permits.  The new system allows permit purchasers to buy permits easily and securely from any location with an internet connection, whether that's home, the office, or another convenient location.  In addition to convenient online ordering and payment, we've added an annual permit option and a feature for printing a temporary permit for display until your permit sticker arrives in the mail.   You can read more about the program, where permits are valid, and learn how to buy permits in the documents below.

Please review the How to Buy Permits information sheet above and then visit www.paymycite.com to purchase your permit.

Suggest an Idea

Have an opinion or a creative suggestion about parking? Share it with the La Mesa Community Parking Commission at the regular monthly meeting held the third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions these meeting are conducted electronically but remain available for public participation.

City staff is also available to answer your questions about parking or parking permits. You may call Parking Control Officer Slawomir Stojanowski at 619.667.1482.

Proper Display of Permit

Permit placards must be properly displayed on the front dashboard at all times.  Failure to display the permit placard may result in issuance of an expired parking meter citation.  Forgotten, lost or misplaced parking permits do not qualify as a reason to dismiss a valid parking citation.  If permit placard is not displayed, the vehicle has no parking privileges and must pay the parking meter and observe posted time limitations.  If permit placard has been lost or misplaced and is, therefore, unavailable to display, please call Phoenix Group at 888-300-9915 to purchase a replacement.  Lost or stolen permits will incur a replacement charge of $25 for each quarterly permit and $50 for each annual permit.
