Superior Court Upholds Termination of Former La Mesa Police Officer Matthew Dages

La Mesa, CA - Superior Court Judge Kathleen Bacal upheld the decision of the La Mesa Personnel Appeals Board (Board) affirming the termination of former Police Officer Matthew Dages. 

“I am thankful for the patience, cooperation and courtesy exhibited by all parties during the lengthy and tedious process leading up to the Judge’s ruling,” said City Attorney Glenn Sabine.

Officer Dages’ termination stemmed from his actions during a May 27, 2020 police contact with Mr. Amaurie Johnson near the Grossmont Trolley Station. On December 9, 2020, the Board upheld Police Chief Walt Vasquez’s decision to terminate Dages.
