COMMUNITY CHOICE ENERGY INFORMATION MEETING
La Mesa, CA...The City of La Mesa will host an informational meeting about Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) in partnership with the Environmental Sustainability Commission on June 17. Stakeholders will learn about Community Choice from regional experts, hear an update about La Mesa’s Community Choice feasibility study, and have the opportunity to ask questions and offer feedback. The meeting will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Council Chambers at La Mesa City Hall, 8130 Allison Avenue.
The cities of Chula Vista, La Mesa, and Santee have partnered to complete a CCA feasibility study to assess the viability within each jurisdiction. A Community Choice program allows local governments to purchase and supply electricity to customers within their jurisdiction as an alternative to the service provided by an incumbent utility, such as San Diego Gas & Electric. Community Choice Aggregation programs are a leading mechanism California communities leverage to work towards 100% renewable energy goals.
In March 2018, the La Mesa City Council adopted the Climate Action Plan, which charts a course to reduce community-wide greenhouse gas emissions in half and achieve 100% renewable electricity city-wide by 2035.
