LA MESA COMMUNITY BICYCLE RODEO

La Mesa, CA… Bring your bikes and helmets to a free Community Bicycle Rodeo this Saturday, November 2, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Rodeo will be held at the MacArthur Park basketball courts next to the Municipal Pool, located at 5100 Memorial Drive.

This event open to the public and will feature an interactive bicycle course designed to teach children important bicycle skills like proper helmet fitting, hand signals, starting and stopping, balancing, avoiding hazards and more. Children of all ages will engage in fun and challenging bicycle activities, receive safety education and giveaways, and visit various community resource booths. Bicycles and helmets will be inspected and adjusted as required. If needed, a new helmet will be provided while supplies last. Snacks and water will be provided.

Bicycling is not only fun, but it’s an excellent form of exercise and a great mode of transportation to get to and from school or any local destination. Riding a bicycle is also good for the environment, helps improve air quality, and creates a healthy community for La Mesa residents to play and live.

The Bicycle Rodeo is funded through the West La Mesa Pedestrian and Bicycle Education Campaign and supports the City’s Climate Action Plan, which charts a course to reduce community wide emissions by half and to increase biking and walking rates in La Mesa.
